Aluminum structural and architectural profiles
Structural aluminum profiles from the rolled aluminum supplier APTT. A structural/machine aluminum extrusion is a high-tech fastening and support system that has become the “industrial building block” of modern engineering. Its defining feature is the presence of integrated T-slots, which enable the assembly of frameworks of any complexity completely without the use of welding.
Alloys for Structural Profiles
Profiles are manufactured via the extrusion method utilizing 6000-series aluminum alloys:
- AD31 (EN AW-6063): The most popular alloy grade. It features high corrosion resistance and excellent surface quality. Supplied in T5 or T6 tempers to guarantee the required structural rigidity.
- 6061 (AD33): Applied in reinforced profile series where enhanced mechanical strength properties are mandatory to withstand dynamic and load-bearing operational stresses.
All profiles undergo a mandatory anodizing process (typically 15–20 μm), which securely protects the metal from physical scratches and surface oxidation while delivering an aesthetic, matte silver finish.
Popular Series and Sizing Lines
- 20-Series (20×20 mm, 20×40 mm): Applied for lightweight framing, protective safety shields, 3D printers, desktop CNC units, and small laboratory test benches.
- 30-Series (30×30 mm, 30×60 mm): The “golden mean” for machinery framing, industrial shelving, commercial workbenches, and office partitioning.
- 40/45-Series (40×40 mm, 45×45 mm, 40×80 mm): The absolute industrial standard for heavy CNC machinery beds, automated conveyor assembly lines, and industrial robotic working platforms.
- Heavy-Duty Series (80×80 mm, 90×90 mm, 100×100 mm): Utilized as main load-bearing structural columns and heavy frameworks for large-scale equipment subjected to multi-ton mechanical loads.
